1969 Plymouth Roadrunner (RM21MA9)
This month I am featuring a rare color combination on a 1969 1/2 lift off hood Roadrunner. They only made 615 coupe's with the (A12) 440 6BBL engine conversion package, in the Spring of 1969, and only 388 of these had the 4-speed transmission. This car is (W1) White with the (H2B) Blue bench seat interior, which is very rare on one of these cars. Built as a production line 383, they were then converted into the bird you see here. They replaced the 383 with a Hi-Performance 440 with an aluminum Edelbrock intake manifold and three 2 BBL Holley carburetors. They also all came with a Dana 60 rear axle in 4.10 ratio, and a fiberglas hood with no hinges, but was held on with pins at all four corners. The hood had a large scoop raised up off the hood to catch good clean air and it worked very well. They had a large bath tub looking air cleaner that was sealed to the under side of the scoop. These cars were very fast, mid-13 second cars right off the show room floor, and with a few mods, easily in the mid to high 12's, in the 1/4 mile. With this kind of power, you have to pity the poor Coyote.
